This is the first image to be published of KSM since his capture in 2003. He looks completely different. The previous images show him scowling, unshaven, etc. The previous images may violate the Geneva Conventions prohibition on humiliating captives, which would apply to KSM under the Fourth Geneva Convention, as a "protected person", even if, under the Third Geneva Convention he was not eligible for the protections of POW status. The images taken by the Red Cross may be the last images ever taken of him.
