==Đặc điểm==
Da và lớp lông lợn lòi rất dày, như 1 tấm áo giáp vững chắc. Chúng có mõm dài cứng để đào đất (khác với lợn nhà vì chúng phải tự tìm thức ăn). Ngoài ra, chúng còn có cặp nanh hàm dưới rất dài, chìa ra khỏi mồm, cong lên phía mắt, răng nanh sắc dài 8–10&nbsp;cm; đây là thứ vũ khí rất lợi hại của chúng để chống lại kẻ thù và cũng là 1 điểm khác biệt lớn so với lợn nhà và với cặp răng nanh này, một con lợn rừng to hoàn toàn có khả năng giết chết một con hổ nếu như con hổ sơ ý. Thức ăn của lợn lòi là hoa quả, rễ cây, giun đất và các loại [[lớp Thú|động vật có vú]] nhỏ. Chúng thường có thói quen đầm mình trong bùn vào mùa hè để tạo ra cảm giác mát mẻ và loại bỏ [[kí sinh trùng]] trên da. Lợn lòi thường sống thành bầy, mỗi lứa đẻ khoảng từ 5 đến 10 con.
