Thị xã này có diện tích 2.987&nbsp;km² và dân số khoảng 343.400 người. Huyện Lộ Tây đã được nâng thành huyện cấp thị (thị xã) năm 1996. Khu trung tâm của thị xã này là trấn Mang Thị (芒市). Các dân tộc sinh sống trong huyện cấp thị này là [[người Thái (Trung Quốc)|Thái]], [[Người Kachin|Cảnh Pha]], [[Người Palaung|Đức Ngang]], [[người A Xương|A Xương]], [[người Lật Túc|Lật Túc]] và [[người Hán|Hán]], tổng nhân khẩu 37 vạn, trong đó các dân tộc thiểu số chiếm 51%.
