Kars là bối cảnh để nhà văn đoạt giải Nobel năm 2006 người Thổ Nhĩ Kỳ Orhan Pamuk viết cuốn tiểu thuyết hư cấu chính trị có nhan đề là Tuyết (tiếng Anh: Snow; tiếng Thổ: Kar). Ông viết cuốn này từ tháng 4/1999 đến 12/2001, trong quãng thời gian đó ông đã đến thăm Kars 4 lần.
