Một biến thể từ hệ thống là sử dụng thẻ passive với pin hỗ trợ (Battery-Assisted Passive (BAP) tag), thẻ này sẽ hoạt động như thẻ passive nhưng có pin để cấp nguồn khi thẻ phản hồi tín hiệu thông báo.
