I think bureaucrats are able to add a time limit when granting permissions, but not sure about permissions that they don't have the power to revoke (sysop). On wa.wiki I was granted admin access for 1 week (my bot deleted a few thousand pages) so it should be possible to grant admin permission with a time limit. I agree it will not be needed for more than a few days.
