Các ghi chép trước đây từ [[sông Chao Phraya]] và [[sông Mekong]] đã nhầm lẫn loàicá hổ Thái ''[[Datnioides pulcher]]'' thành cá hổ Indo ''[[Datnioides microlepis]]'' do hình thái rất giống nhau.
