David Steinberg, known online by his alias/gamertag StoneMountain64, is an American Internet celebrity, current Facebook Gaming streamer, and current YouTube content creator. In over nine years of producing gaming-related content online, Steinberg has accumulated more than five million followers across all of his platforms.. He is best known for creating comedic and informational content, and live streaming himself, playing the popular video games Call of Duty: Warzone, Escape from Tarkov, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the Battlefield series and other first-person shooters, among other titles not in that genre. He is also known for a persona he created for video content, where he acts like a commanding officer from a military unit while playing with randomly queued gamers.

Career

Steinberg uploaded his first piece of content onto YouTube on October 1, 2011, showcasing his gameplay in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

In the early days of his YouTube channel, on December 7, 2011, he started producing partnered content with the gaming channel Machinima.

Among his gaming-related content, Steinberg frequently uploaded videos that were comedic in nature, often involving conversations with random Xbox Live players he would encounter on the platform. Steinberg's style of "shoutcasting" (intensely commentating) random public matches in the Call of Duty franchise became one of his most popular video series in the early days of his YouTube channel.

On October 30, 2013, a Reddit user posted a link to one of Steinberg's videos on the /r/gaming subreddit. The post would eventually go viral, reaching the front page of that subreddit and the front page of Reddit as a whole. As a result, Steinberg's YouTube channel was inundated with new viewers and subscribers, gaining nearly 50,000 subscribers within a week.

At the UMG Philadelphia 2014 Call of Duty tournament, Steinberg was invited to commentate live matches as part of the on-air broadcast talent team.

During the 2016 Gamescom event, Steinberg was invited to be a team captain during the Battlefield 1 worldwide game launch. He partnered up with various other content creators and celebrities, famously seen on camera helping rapper Snoop Dogg figure out how to play the game.

In September 2016, Steinberg announced that he had quit his job in investment advising and transitioned to full-time with content creation.

On March 7, 2017, Steinberg gained his 1 millionth subscriber on YouTube.

In January, 2018, Steinberg signed a partnership to exclusively livestream gaming content on Facebook's new platform for gaming streamers, Facebook Gaming. He was one of the first content creators with a large audience to switch over to the new platform.

Steinberg competed in the E3 Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am on June 12, 2018, finishing in 4th place.

On October 4, 2018, Steinberg was invited to host Confetti, a live trivia show broadcast on Facebook Watch.

In December, 2018, Steinberg signed a deal with Creative Artists Agency to have them represent his brand. He is currently still signed with CAA.

Steinberg, along with ex-League of Legends professional player and former Facebook employee Stephen "Snoopeh" Ellis, launched Pipeline.gg on April 22, 2019. The service was created to be a community for live streamers to learn, connect, and build their brands, with the goal of helping those individuals make a career with content creation.

Steinberg competed in the Apex Legends EXP Pro-Am on July 11, 2019, alongside professional athletes and other content creators, placing 7th. He teamed up with Maria Taylor (analyst) and Kenneth Faried.

On December 19, 2019, Steinberg competed in the Inaugural CODE Bowl alongside members of the U.S. Army Esports team.

In December 2019, Steinberg, along with Pipeline.gg co-founder Stephen "Snoopeh" Ellis, were named in Forbes' 30 Under 30 in Games.

On April 21, 2021, Steinberg set his all-time concurrent live viewer record at 64,200.

Personal life

Steinberg grew up in southern California, near Los Angeles.

While he was attending college at California State University, Fullerton, he met his future wife Erica. The two were eventually married on January 16, 2016.

On June 10, 2020, David and Erica's daughter Jade was born.

Philanthropy

On April 12, 2021, Steinberg hosted a $100,000 charity Call of Duty: Warzone tournament supporting the Call of Duty Endowment.

As of April 2021, Steinberg has raised almost $160,000 for charity while representing different organizations such as The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, the United Nations Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and the Call of Duty Endowment
