Những xa lộ lớn hiện đại nối liền các thành phố tại các quốc gia phát triển và đông dân thường hợp nhất nhiều thứ chính yếu để tăng cường khả năng, hiệu quả và an toàn ở nhiều cấp độ khác nhau.
