English: This true-color image of Hurricane Ida off the coast of Louisiana was captured on August 29, 2021, at 10:11 A.M. CDT (15:11 UTC), by the Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) instrument flying aboard NOAA's GOES 16 satellite. Ida was a powerful hurricane that originated from a tropical wave in the Caribbean Sea in 2021 Atlantic hurricane season in late August 2021. Ida would go on and make landfall in Louisiana a few hours later devastating areas at or around the New Orleans Metropolitan area, also it would go on to cause tornadoes in New Jersey and flooding in the New York Metropolitan area. When this was captured Ida was over the Gulf of Mexico just coming off its peak intensity as a high-end Category 4 hurricane, with winds of 150 mph (240 km/h) (130 knots) on the 1-min Saffir-Simpson scale and had a minimum central pressure of 930 mbar (27.5 inHg).
