Hubert Humphrey Horatio Jr (27 tháng năm 1911 - 13 tháng 1 năm 1978) là một chính trị gia người Mỹ đã phục vụ như là lần thứ 38 Phó Tổng thống Hoa Kỳ dưới thời Tổng thống Lyndon B. Johnson , từ năm 1965 đến năm 1969. Humphrey hai lần phục vụ trong Hoa Kỳ Thượng viện , đại diện cho Minnesota 1949-1964 và năm 1971 đến năm 1978. Ông là ứng cử viên của đảng Dân chủ trong cuộc bầu cử tổng thống năm 1968 , để thua các đảng Cộng hòa đề cử, Richard M. Nixon .
Sinh ra tại Wallace, Nam Dakota vào năm 1911, Humphrey đã tham dự Đại học Minnesota trước khi có giấy phép dược sĩ của anh từ trường Capitol Dược vào năm 1931. In 1965, Humphrey was made an Honorary Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha, a historically African American fraternity.[2]
In 1978, Humphrey received the U.S. Senator John Heinz Award for Greatest Public Service by an Elected or Appointed Official, an award given out annually by Jefferson Awards.[3]
He was awarded posthumously the Congressional Gold Medal on June 13, 1979 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1980.
He was honored by the United States Postal Service with a 52¢ Great Americans series (1980–2000) postage stamp.[4]
There is a statue of him in front of the Minneapolis City Hall.[5][6]
