Các truyện này miêu tả lại các hoạt động của [[thần Ai Cập cổ đại|các vị thần Ai Cập]] giúp con người có thêm hiểu biết về thế giới xung quanh họ. Những tín ngưỡng mà các câu chuyện thần thoại này thể hiện là một phần quan trọng của [[tôn giáo Ai Cập cổ đại]].
