Bộ manga One Piece quy tụ dàn nhân vật đông đảo do Oda Eiichiro sáng tạo. Bộ truyện lấy bối cảnh ở một vũ trụ hư cấu - nơi sinh sống của vô số hải tặc (cướp biển), quân lính, nhà cách mạng và những nhà thám hiểm khác tranh đấu lẫn nhau, sử dụng nhiều loại siêu năng lực. Đa số các nhân vật là con người, song ngoài ra còn có tộc người lùn, tộc người khổng lồ, tộc nhân ngư, tiên cá, người cá[a] tộc người trên trời, tộc mink[b] và nhiều chủng tộc khác nữa. Nhiều nhân vật có được siêu năng lực nhờ ăn "Trái Ác Quỷ". Tuyến truyện của tác phẩm xoay quanh những cuộc phiêu lưu của băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm trên đường tìm kiếm kho báu huyền thoại "One Piece".
Monkey D. Luffy là nhân vật chính của bộ truyện, cậu là một hải tặc tuổi thiếu niên mong ước được kế thừa Gold Roger (Vua Hải Tặc quá cố) bằng cách tìm ra kho báu "One Piece" của ông. Trong suốt bộ truyện, Luffy tập hợp một băng đa dạng thành viên, đặt tên là Băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm: chiến binh đánh bằng ba thanh kiếm Roronoa Zoro; nữ đạo tặc và hoa tiêu Nami; tay thiện xạ và nhà phát minh hèn nhát Usopp; đầu bếp và võ sĩ đa tình Sanji; tuần lộc nhân hóa và bác sĩ Tony Tony Chopper; nhà khảo cổ học Nico Robin; thợ đóng tàu người máy Franky; nhạc công trong hình hài bộ xương sống Brook; và người lái tàu người cá Jinbei. Họ cùng nhau dong buồm ra khơi nhằm theo đuổi ước mơ của mình, chạm trán với các hải tặc, thợ săn tiền thưởng, tổ chức tội phạm, nhà cách mạng, mật vụ và quân lính của Chính Phủ Thế Giới lũng đoạn, cùng nhiều bạn bè và kẻ thù khác.
Sáng tạo và xây dựng nhân vật sửa
Nhiều nhân vật được cho là dựa trên các hải tặc và thủy thủ ngoài đời thật như: Eustass Kid (Eustace the Monk và William Kidd), X. Drake (Sir Francis Drake), Basil Hawkins (Basil Ringrose và John Hawkins), Capone Bege (Al Capone và William Le Sauvage), Jewelry Bonney (Anne Bonny), Urouge (Aruj và Oruç Reis), Alvida (Awilda), Bartolomeo (Bartholomew Roberts), Bellamy (Samuel Bellamy), Râu Đen (Edward Teach), Cavendish (Thomas Cavendish), Big Mom (Charlotte Badger), Gold Roger (Olivier Levasseur), Lafitte (Jean Lafitte), Roronoa Zoro (François l'Olonnais), Silvers Rayleigh (Sir Walter Raleigh), Thatch (Edward Thatch), Yorki (Calico Jack), Zeff và Sanji ("Red Legs" Greaves), Trafalgar Law (Edward Low), Barbarossa (Hayreddin Barbarossa) và Scratchmen Apoo (Chui A-poo).[ch. 508] Nhân vật mặc dồ khác giới Emporio Ivankov thì dựa trên Dr. Frank N. Furter và Imamura Norio. Norio đã đề xuất Oda vẽ các nhân vật có phần okama (đồng tính luyến ái) hơn và trở thành diễn viên lồng tiếng Ivankov đầu tiên.[ch. 570]
Oda sáng tạo Helmeppo trước khi tạo ra Đại úy Morgan (cha Helmeppo). Lúc đầu Oda định đặt tên Morgan theo tên "Chop", tức là tên đầy đủ của nhân vật là "Đại úy Hải quân Captain Chop" hoặc "Thủy thủ Chop". "Thủy thủ" trong tiếng Nhật là suihei (水兵 suihei), còn "Suihei Chop" là một chiêu thức chiến đấu mà đô vật Nhật Bản Giant Baba sử dụng. Anh sáng tạo một số phiên bản của Morgan, rồi chốt mẫu thiết kế cuối. Sau một biên tập viên nhắc anh rằng Morgan trông "thật kém sang" (theo lời Oda), anh đã đổi thiết kế sang kiểu dáng cuối.[tập 1:p. 144 (en)]
Băng hải tặc Mũ Rơm sửa
Các nhân vật chính của One Piece là toàn bộ các thành viên của Băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm (麦わらの一味 Mugiwara no Ichimi) - một băng hải tặc gồm mười thành viên do Monkey D. Luffy làm thuyền trưởng. Số lượng thành viên của băng tăng lên trong suốt bộ truyện sau mỗi lần Luffy tuyển mộ thành viên mới. Khi Usopp gia nhập Băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm, họ kiếm được con tàu riêng tên là Going Merry, song sau đó nó bị hư hỏng và thay bằng một con tàu lớn hơn và mạnh hơn - Thousand Sunny do thợ đóng tàu Franky của băng chế tác. Hai năm sau, Băng Mũ Rơm xây dựng được hạm đội mới, đặt tên là Đại Hạm đội Mũ Rơm, gồm 5.640 hải tặc từ bảy băng khác nhau; Luffy phản đối ý tưởng làm chỉ huy hạm đội, cậu cho tổ chức quân đội theo phương thức cho phép họ có thể tác chiến độc lập, nhưng khi một băng gặp sự cố thì những băng kia phải tìm cách để có thể hỗ trợ họ. Tính đến cuối tiểu phần Wano Quốc, Băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm được công nhân vật là băng của Tứ Hoàng chỉ huy, còn Luffy cũng được xem là thủ lĩnh của Đại Hạm đội Mũ Rơm,[ch. 903] còn chín thành viên kia làm Cán bộ Cấp cao,[ch. 1058] sau khi họ đánh bại cả Kaido lẫn Big Mom.
Monkey D. Luffy sửa
Monkey D. Luffy (モンキー・D・ルフィ Monkī Dī Rufi) là thuyền trưởng của Băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm và nhân vật chính của bộ truyện One Piece. Năm bảy tuổi, cậu ngưỡng mộ và tìm cách gia nhập băng hải tặc của Shanks "Tóc Đỏ". Sau khi bị chế giễu và từ chối, cậu vô tình ăn phải kho báu của băng là Trái Gum-Gum (ゴムゴムの実 Gomu Gomu no Mi) thuộc hệ Paramecia, mang lại cho cậu đặc tính của cao su. Những hành động liều lĩnh đã đẩy cậu vào nguy hiểm, buộc Shanks phải hi sinh cánh tay trái để giải cứu cậu. Sau sự việc này, Luffy từ bỏ ý định gia nhập băng của Shanks, thay vào đó quyết tâm lập một băng hải tặc của riêng cậu và trở thành Vua Hải Tặc.[ch. 1] Bất mãn vì Shanks làm hư cháu mình, Garp đưa Luffy đến chỗ Curly Dadan và băng sơn tặc của bà để họ nuôi dạy cậu. Trong thời gian Luffy sống ở đây, cậu kết nghĩa anh em với Ace (một đứa trẻ khác mà Garp bảo hộ) và Sabo (cậu nhóc thuộc một gia đình quý tộc địa phương đang chạy trốn).[ch. 582–589]
Mười năm sau và vẫn đội chiếc mũ quý giá mà Shanks trao tặng, Luffy thành lập và chỉ huy băng hải tặc riêng có tên là Băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm và dong buồm ra khơi đi đến Đại Hải Trình, nhanh chóng trở nên khét tiếng với biệt hiệu Luffy "Mũ Rơm" (麦わらのルフィ Mugiwara no Rufi).[ch. 2, 7, 96, 98] Cuối cùng, sau khi không đủ sức mạnh để cứu Ace khỏi bị hành quyết, cậu mất hai năm trên một hòn đảo hẻo lánh để tập luyện ba loại Haki cũng như sức mạnh cao su Gear 4 từ Silvers Rayleigh, trước khi đến Tân Thế Giới.[ch. 590–602] Nhờ sự khét tiếng của mình, cậu là một trong những hải tặc thuộc "Thế hệ Tồi tệ Nhất". Sau khi đánh bại Kaido và Big Mom, cậu được vinh danh vào hàng ngũ Tứ Hoàng. Luffy còn có thể sử dụng các loại Haki cấp cao vào thực chiến. Trong trận đánh với Kaido, sức mạnh trái ác quỷ của cậu thức tỉnh, để lộ bản chất thật của nó là hệ Zoan Thần Thoại, tức Trái Human-Human, Mẫu: Nika.
Trong bản anime, người lồng tiếng Luffy là Tanaka Mayumi.[1] Ở bản chuyển thể tiếng Anh của 4Kids Entertainment, cậu được lồng tiếng bởi Erica Schroeder.[2] Ở bản chuyển thể tiếng Anh của Funimation Entertainment, người lồng tiếng cậu là Colleen Clinkenbeard.[3]
Luffy được thể hiện bởi nam diễn viên Iñaki Godoy ở bản chuyển thể người đóng của One Piece.[4]
Roronoa Zoro sửa
Roronoa Zoro (ロロノア・ゾロ) là một kiếm sĩ sử dụng cùng lúc ba thanh kiếm, mỗi tay cầm một kiếm và miệng ngậm một kiếm.[ch. 3, 5, 28] Để thực hiện lời hứa với cô bạn và đối thủ đã khuất thời thơ ấu Kuina, cậu đặt mục tiêu đánh bại Mihawk "Mắt Diều Hâu" và trở thành kiếm sĩ giỏi nhất thế giới.[ch. 5, 50] Cậu đi chu du khắp biển cả nhằm truy tìm Mihawk và kiếm sống bằng nghề thợ săn hải tặc, trở nên khét tiếng với biệt hiệu"Thợ săn Hải tặc" Zoro (海賊狩りのゾロ Kaizoku-Gari no Zoro).
Sau cùng, cậu vướng vào mâu thuẫn với Helmeppo - cậu con trai hư của một sĩ quan hải quân. Nhằm ngăn thường dân vô tội bị tổn thương, Zoro chấp nhận bản thân bị giam giữ tạm thời, còn Helmeppo thì âm mưu trừ khử cậu. Zoro được Luffy cứu khỏi bị hành quyết, đổi lại cậu trở thành đồng đội đầu tiên của Luffy. Lúc ấy, Zoro có nói rõ rằng cậu sẽ quay lưng chống lại thuyền trưởng nếu như cậu ta xâm phạm ranh giới giữa Zoro và giấc mơ của cậu.[ch. 2–6] Tuy nhiên, Zoro ngày càng yêu quý băng của mình và sau không ít lần thất bại trong việc bảo vệ băng, cậu đã thay đổi ưu tiên và thuyết phục Mihawk nhận cậu làm đệ tử.[ch. 51f., 485, 597] Zoro có thể sử dụng cả ba loại Haki và có thể sử dụng dạng cấp cao của cả Haoshoku và Busoshoku Haki. Cậu cũng nổi tiếng với khả năng tìm đường tệ hại và thường xuyên bị lạc đường.
Ở bản anime, diễn viên lồng tiếng cậu là Nakai Kazuya.[1] Ở bản chuyển thể tiếng Anh của 4Kids, tên của cậu được phát âm thành Roronoa Zolo, và người lồng tiếng cậu là Marc Diraison.[2] Các bộ phim của VIZ cũng gọi cậu là "Zolo". Ở bản chuyển thể Anh ngữ của Funimation, người lồng tiếng cậu là Christopher Sabat.[3]
Zoro được thể hiện bởi Mackenyu ở bản chuyển thể người đóng của One Piece.[4]
Nami sửa
Sau khi được cựu thủy thủ hải quân và nông dân trồng quýt Belle-Mère thu nhận và nuôi dưỡng, Nami (ナミ) đã chứng kiến mẹ mình bị tên hải tặc Arlong sát hại; băng của y còn chiếm đóng hòn đảo của họ và lấy cống vật từ người dân trên đảo. Sau khi đạt thỏa thuận làm việc cho Arlong, Nami lúc ấy vẫn là một cô nhóc, song đã là một nhà vẽ bản đồ tài năng ước mơ vẽ một tấm bản đồ thế giới hoàn chỉnh. Cô nhập băng Arlong với hi vọng sau này sẽ đủ tiền mua lại tự do cho làng của mình. Là một nữ hải tặc căm ghét hải tặc, cô vẽ bản đồ cho Arlong và đánh cắp kho báu từ những hải tặc khác, từ đó Nami trở thành một viên hoa tiêu, đạo tặc chuyên móc túi xuất sắc với biệt tài dự đoán thời tiết.[ch. 77, 95, 130] Sau khi Arlong phản bội cô và việc băng của y bị Băng Hải tặc Mũ Rơm đánh bại, Nami đã nhận lời vào băng Mũ Rơm nhằm theo đuổi ước mơ và tự nhận mình là "Miêu đạo tặc" Nami (泥棒猫のナミ Dorobō Neko no Nami).[ch. 94f., 435]
Ở bản anime, người lồng tiếng Nami là Okamura Akemi.[5] Ở bản chuyển thể Anh ngữ của 4Kids, người lồng tiếng cô là Kerry Williams.[6] Ở bản chuyển thể Anh ngữ của Funimation, diễn viên lồng tiếng cô là Luci Christian.[7]
Nami được thể hiện bởi diễn viên Emily Rudd ở bản chuyển thể người đóng của One Piece.[4]
Usopp sửa
Thời thơ ấu, Usopp (ウソップ Usoppu) bị cha mình là Yasopp bỏ rơi sau khi ông rời đi để vào Băng Hải tặc Tóc Đỏ. Khi bà mẹ Bachina lâm bệnh, Usopp bắt đầu kể những câu chuyện cổ tích, bày tỏ hi vọng cha mình sẽ trở về và đưa họ ra khơi. Cậu thường xuyên đi đến căn biệt thự nằm ở đỉnh đồi đồi (nơi cậu sinh sống) để ghé thăm Kaya. Ngay cả sau khi mẹ qua đời, Usopp không hề đổ lỗ cho cha vì đã bỏ đi. Bất chấp tính cách hèn nhát, cậu vẫn quyết tâm trở thành một hải tặc vĩ đại.[ch. 25, 41]
Usopp nổi bật với chiếc mũi dài - chi tiết ám chỉ rằng cậu thường xuyên nói dối. Cậu là một nhà phát minh, họa sĩ và thợ điêu khắc tài năng.[ch. 42, 106, 190] Trong chiến đấu, cậu chủ yếu dùng súng cao su để bắn ra nhiều loại đạn với độ chính xác cao, kết hợp với biệt tài nói dối và một số vũ khí khác, mang đến cho cậu phong cách chiến đấu đặc thù gọi la "Pháo thủ Usopp".[ch. 332] Nhằm hỗ trợ Băng Mũ Rơm giải cứu Nico Robin, cậu hóa trang thành một bản thể khác là "Sogeking, Vua bắn tỉa" (狙撃の王様そげキング Sogeki no Ō-sama Sogekingu) - một tay người hùng bắn tỉa đeo mặt nạ và áo choàng màu vàng. Cuối cùng, sau khi giúp băng Mũ Rơm giải phóng Dressrosa khỏi sự thống trị của Donquixote Doflamingo, cậu trở nên khét tiếng với biệt hiệu "Thánh" Usopp (ゴッド ウソップ Goddo Usoppu).[ch. 435]
Ở bản anime, diễn viên lồng tiếng cậu là Yamaguchi Kappei.[1] Jason Griffith và Sonny Strait lần lượt lồng tiếng cậu ở các bản chuyển thể Anh ngữ của 4Kids và Funimation.[3][8]
Usopp được thể hiện bởi diễn viên Jacob Romero Gibson ở bản chuyển thể người đóng của One Piece.[4]
Sanji sửa
Vốn xuất thân là hoàng tử Vương quốc Germa, Vinsmoke Sanji (ヴィンスモーク・サンジ Vinsumōku Sanji) thường bị các anh em giỏi hơn (do cải tiến về mặt di truyền) chế giễu và bị người cha Judge vì xem anh là nỗi ô nhục. Với sự hỗ trợ của Reiju, anh chạy trốn và tìm đường tránh Germa - vương quốc nổi trên mặt biển gồm một số tàu thủy, sau khi nó tiến vào East Blue và cha anh tạo điều kiện cho vụ này.
Trong lúc làm đầu bếp thực tập trên tàu chở khách, Sanji (lúc mới chín tuổi) đứng lên phản kháng một nhóm hải tặc do Zeff "Chân Đỏ" cầm đầu. Ở cuộc gặp ấy, Sanji bị một cơn sóng lớn ập đến đẩy xuống biển. Zeff bắt chuyện với cậu vì họ chung giấc mơ tìm All Blue (オールブルー Ōru Burū) - một vùng huyền thoại nơi các biển của East, West, North và South Blue giao nhau, chứa mọi loại cá trên thế giới. Trong lúc cùng chạy trốn, Zeff một lần nữa cứu mạng Sanji khi cho anh toàn bộ thực phẩm. Sau lần giải cứu ấy, Sanji ở cùng Zeff trong nhiều năm và giúp ông gây dựng một nhà hàng nổi trên biển mang tên Baratie (バラティエ). Đổi lại, Zeff biến anh thành đầu bếp hạng nhất và dạy anh phong cách chiến đấu bằng cước.[ch. 56–59] Lấy Zeff làm gương nên Sanji không bao giờ từ nấu bữa ăn cho một người đang đói, và anh chỉ dùng chân khi chiến để bảo vệ đôi tay nấu ăn.[ch. 48, 370] Điểm yếu của anh là phụ nữ, anh có nguyên tắc không làm tổn hại bất cứ phụ nữ nào, ngay cả khi điều đó làm nguy hiểm tới tính mạng.[ch. 403]
Cuối cùng, anh trở nên khét tiếng với biệt danh Sanji "Chân Đen" (黒脚のサンジ Kuro Ashi no Sanji).[ch. 435] Trong hai năm tập luyện tại vương quốc Kamabakka Queendom (カマバッカ王国 Kamabakka Ōkoku) của Emporio Ivankov, anh đã phát triển Bộ Hành Trên Không (
Diện mạo chuẩn của Sanji là một người đàn ông mặc bộ com lê vừa vặn với cà vạt đen thắt chặt. Tóc anh luôn che một bên mặt và thường hút thuốc.
Ở bản anime truyền hình, người lồng tiếng Anh là Hirata Hiroaki.[9] Ở bản chuyển thể tiếng Anh của 4Kids, diễn viên lồng tiếng cho anh là David Moo.[10] Ở bản chuyển thể tiếng Anh của Funimation, giọng anh được thể hiện bởi Eric Vale.[3]
Sanji được hóa thân bởi Taz Skylar ở bản chuyển thể người đóng của One Piece.[4]
Tony Tony Chopper sửa
Tony Tony Chopper (トニートニー・チョッパー Tonī Tonī Choppā) là một vị bác sĩ và tuần lộc nhân hóa. Sức mạnh của Trái Hito Hito no Mi (ヒトヒトの実 Hito Hito no Mi) hệ Zoan mang lại cho câu năng lực biến thành một con tuần lộc kích thước chuẩn hoặc lai giữa tuần lộc-người.[ch. 140] Cậu còn tự chế thuốc gọi là Rumble Ball (ランブル・ボール Ranburu Bōru), giúp cậu biến đổi nhiều dạng hơn trong ba phút.[ch. 149] Với sự hỗ trợ của Caesar Clown, Chopper có thể kéo dài thời gian biến hình lên khoảng 30 phút.[ch. 1014]
Sau khi bị bầy đàn bỏ rơi vì chiếc mũi anh dương và ăn phải Trái Ác Quỷ, Chopper được vị bác sĩ bất tài - Bác sĩ Hiriluk của Đảo Drum giải cứu. Trong chế thuốc tạo hoa anh khi tiếp xúc với tuyết, Chopper rất đau lòng khi Hiriluk mắc bệnh hiểm nghèo. Sau Hiriluk mất, Bác sĩ Kureha thu nhận cậu làm học trò. Sau khi băng Mũ Rơm đặt chân đến Đảo Drum và đưa Chopper đi cùng họ, Kureha sử dụng liều thuốc của Hiriluk để biến bầu trời phủ tuyết thành hoa anh đảo, đáp ứng sứ mệnh sinh thời của Hiriluk. Mỗi khi được khen, Chopper hành xử bối rối và đôi khi quát người khen cậu ngừng làm cậu hạnh phúc nữa.[ch. 140] Một chi tiết hài lặp lại nhiều lần (running gag) trong truyện là khi các nhân vật khác nhầm cậu là một Tanuki (lửng chó Nhật Bản) thì cậu tỏ ra bực bội, đính chính rằng mình là một Tonakai (tiếng Nhật của từ "tuần lộc").
Nữ diễn lồng tiếng Chopper là Ōtani Ikue.[11] Ikura Kazue là người lồng tiếng Tony Tony Chopper từ tập 254–263.[12] Brina Palencia lồng tiếng cậu ở các bản lồng tiếng Anh của Funimation.
Khi sáng tạo Chopper, Oda mong muốn một linh vật vừa dễ thương vừa mềm yếu.[13] Một bài đánh giá bộ manga của IGN khen ngợi Chopper là một trong những nhân vật hay nhất truyện và cho rằng cậu có thể vừa gây hài vừa làm cảm động.[14] Về tuyến truyện của Chopper, Oda muốn thể hiện rằng một người không cần phải chung huyết thống thì mới được xem là thành viên trong gia đình.[15]
Nico Robin sửa
Lớn lên Ohara (オハラ) - nơi tạo lạc thư viện lâu đời và lớn nhất thế giới, Nico Robin (ニコ・ロビン Niko Robin) trở thành nhà khảo cổ học năm lên tám tuổi.[ch. 218,391f.] Một hôm, cô có được sức mạnh của Trái Flower-Flower (ハナハナの実 Hana Hana no Mi) thuộc hệ Paramecia, giúp cô tạm thời nhân bản các bộ phận của cơ thể, kể cẳ mắt và tai - xuất hiện trên khu vực gần cô.[ch. 170] Cô giấu các thầy cô và học được kiến thức cấm về cách biên dịch các phiến đá cổ đại gọi là Poneglyphs (
Được mệnh danh là "Đứa con của quỷ" (悪魔の子 Akuma no Ko), bị tổn thương tâm lý và bị treo tiền truy nã, Robin phải sống cuộc đời nay đây may đó, không thể tin tưởng bất cứ ai.[ch. 218] Để sinh tồn, cô hợp tác với nhiều hải tặc và các kẻ sống ngoài vòng pháp luật khác. Cuối cùng, cô gia nhập tổ chức Baroque Works của Sir Crocodile, sử dụng mật danh là "Ms. All-Sunday" (ミス・オールサンデー Misu Ōrusandē)[ch. 398] rồi trở thành phó chủ nhiệm của hội.[ch. 218] Sau khi Baroque Works sụp đổ và chẳng còn nơi nào để đi, cô vào Băng Hải Tặc Mũ Rơm[ch. 218] và ngày một quý mến họ đến mức sẵn sàng giao nộp bản thân cho Chính Phủ để cứu họ. Cô nhận ra cuối cùng mình đã tìm thấy những người sẽ không bao giờ phản bộ cô và làm thành viên của băng.[ch. 398] Hai năm sau, Robin trau dồi năng lực Trái Ác Quỷ nhiều hơn nữa tới mức cô có thể tạo ra bản sao cơ thể hoàn chỉnh của chính mình.
Ở bản chuyển thể anime truyền hình của manga, diễn viên lồng tiếng Robin là Yamaguchi Yuriko.[16] Ở bản chuyển thể tiếng Anh của 4Kids, mật danh của cô ở Baroque Works bị đổi thành Miss Sunday và người thể hiện giọng cô là Veronica Taylor.[17] Ở bản chuyển thể tiếng Anh của Funimation, cô được lồng tiếng bởi Stephanie Young.[18]

Vốn là hải tặc trước cả thời Roger, "Humming" Brook (ブルック Burukku) lần đầu tiến vào Đại Hải Trình với tư cách thành viên của băng hải tặc chuyên chơi nhạc tên là Rumbar. Lúc chia tay thú cưng - chú cá voi mồ côi Laboon (ラブーン Rabūn) tại Núi Đảo Ngược, ông hứa sẽ trở về sau khi dong buồm khắp thế giới.[ch. 487] Sau khi mất thuyền trưởng "Calico" Yorki (キャラコのヨーキ Kyarako no Yōki), Brook lên làm thuyền trưởng mới của băng. "Black"), nicknamed Kuro the "Thousand Plans" (百計のクロ Hyakkei no Kuro), is the captain of the Black Cat Pirates, who is known for his elaborate plans.[ch. 26] Wishing to leave his identity behind, and to escape the pirate lifestyle of always being on the run,[ch. 37] he becomes butler to Kaya, a friend of Usopp.[ch. 23] He considers his crew as nothing but pawns to carry out his plans and, if he so pleases, to die for him.[ch. 38] Kuro fights using a pair of gloves equipped with long, straight, single edged blades. Wearing these, he adopted his signature habit of adjusting his constantly slipping glasses by using only the palm of his hand to avoid cutting his face.[ch. 33]
Carl Kimlinger of Anime News Network praised Kuro as being "both unspeakably cool and utterly vile".[28]
In the anime, Kuro resumed pirate life following his defeat and saw that the bounty for Luffy has gone up following Arlong's defeat.
In the Japanese anime television series, Kuro is voiced by Kōichi Hashimoto. In the 4Kids English adaptation, he is voiced by Gary Mack, while his voice actor in the Funimation English adaptation is Kent Williams.

He and his remaining crew members helped to form the Centaur Patrol Unit which worked for Caesar Clown. After Caesar Clown was defeated, Brownbeard and his crew surrendered to Smoker.

Donquixote Doflamingo (ドンキホーテ・ドフラミンゴ Donkihōte Dofuramingo) is the captain of the Donquixote Pirates, the usurper king of the island Dressrosa, and formerly one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.[ch. 234, 682, 728] The String-String Fruit (イトイトの実 Ito Ito no Mi) grants him the ability to control others using movements with his fingers resembling a puppeteer's. It also enables him to control sharp thin strings from his fingertips that can cut people, create clones of himself, and attach to the clouds in the sky to allow him to fly.[ch. 231] He is also capable of utilizing all three types of Haki. He is also a former Celestial Dragon after his father, Donquixote Homing, decided to abandon that life to become a normal human. However, they were chased by the people, tortured, and eventually Doflamingo killed his father. He brought the head of his father back to Mariejois in hopes of receiving his Celestial title back again. He was denied and later became a pirate.
He believes that the "Great Pirate Era" is nearing its end and a new age is about to begin.[ch. 303] He is a broker under the alias of "Joker", and owns a large auction house at the Sabaody Archipelago where humans and other species are sold as slaves.[ch. 504] Eventually, after the Straw Hat Pirates and Dressrosa's citizens reveal his treacherous deeds, Doflamingo is defeated by Luffy and his title is revoked.
He is voiced by Hideyuki Tanaka.[30] In the Funimation English adaptation, his voice is supplied by Robert McCollum.[31]

Monet (モネ Mone) is a harpy-like woman, officer of the Donquixote Pirates, and Caesar's lab assistant with the ability to generate, control, or transform into snow thanks to the powers of the Snow-Snow Fruit. Her bird parts were the replacements for her original parts. She was killed when Caesar accidentally stabbed her removed heart instead of Smoker's removed heart.
Monet is voiced by Naoko Matsui in the original Japanese version and by Janelle Lutz in the Funimation dub.

The Flying Pirates are a group of fish-man pirates that was originally founded by Vander Decken. They eventually make a pact with the New Fish-Man Pirates to plot the complete destruction of Fish-Man Island by initiating a coup d'etat.

Vander Decken IX (バンダー・デッケン九世 Bandā Dekken Kyūsei) is a Japanese bullhead shark-type fish-man. He is chronically the first fish-man to sport a Devil Fruit power where he possesses the power of the Paramecia-type Target-Target Fruit (マトマトの実 Mato-Mato no Mi) that enables him to lock on any target at will so long as he touches the target first. Even though he lost the ability to swim, Vander Decken IX can still survive underwater and requires assistance to move through the ocean like applying a flutter kick coating to him.
Vander Decken IX is voiced by Wataru Takagi in the original Japanese version and by Jim Foronda in the Funimation dub.

The Foxy Pirates (フォクシー海賊団 Fokushī Kaizokudan) is a crew specializing in a pirate game known as the "Davy Back Fight" wherein pirate crews can win crewmen from their opponents and their Jolly Roger. One example is when he won the Fanged Toad Pirates' captain Kibagaeru, its unnamed helmsman, and its unnamed navigator as well as their Jolly Roger leaving the rest of the Fanged Toad Pirates in disarray.[ch. 306] The crew is led by Foxy.[ch. 309]

Foxy (フォクシー Fokushī), nicknamed "Silver Fox" (銀ギツネ Gin Gitsune), is the cheater and trickster captain of the Foxy Pirates.[ch. 307] Though he acts supremely confident most of the time, he is extremely sensitive to insults or criticism.[ch. 306] Having eaten the Slow-Slow Fruit (ノロノロの実 Noro Noro no Mi), Foxy can emit a beam with microscopic particles from his hands which can temporarily slow down any object, reducing its velocity, while preserving kinetic energy.[ch. 309]
Although in the manga he only appears as the main antagonist of a story arc, in the anime he is a recurring opponent of Luffy's crew.

- Kibagaeru is the former captain of the Fanged Toad Pirates who Foxy claimed in the Davy Back Fight against them. In the anime-exclusive Foxy Returns Arc, Kibagaeru briefly took over the Foxy Pirates. After being defeated by the Straw Hat Pirates, Kibagaeru allowed Foxy to lead the Foxy Pirates again. Kibagaeru is voiced by Takashi Nagasako in the original Japanese version.
- Itomimizu is the announcer and commentator. Itomimizu is voiced by Keiichi Nanba in the original Japanese version and by Ian Sinclair in the Funimation dub.

After ending their duel years later, Brogy and Dorry headed to Elbaf where Shanks recruited them to help fight the Kid Pirates. They arrived on Egghead with their fellow Giant Warrior Pirates to help fight the Navy and the Five Elders.

Gin (ギン Gin) is Krieg's combat commander. He arrived at the Baratie restaurant hungry, being saved by Sanji, who offered him a plate of food, after which Gin was grateful to the cook. Because of this, he ended up rebelling against his captain, especially once he ended up being defeated by Luffy, because he lost all the respect he had for him, thinking that he was someone indestructible.
Gin is voiced by Kenichi Ono in the original Japanese version. In the 4Kids dub, Gin is voiced by Peter Katana. In the Funimation dub, Gin is voiced by Illich Guardiola until 2014 and by David Matranga starting in the "Episode of East Blue" special.

Pearl (パール Pāru) is a man protected by various shields. Although it is difficult to hurt him, he gets nervous if someone does the slightest injury to him, worrying everyone including his captain, as he begins to lose control.

The Kuja (九蛇) are a tribe of women living on Amazon Lily (アマゾン・リリー Amazon Rirī), a China-inspired island where men are forbidden.[ch. 514f., 535] It is ruled by Boa Hancock, who also captains a group of pirates who are the strongest fighters of the Kuja, including her two younger sisters who possess the Zoan-type abilities of the Snake-Snake Fruit (ヘビヘビの実 Hebi Hebi no Mi).[ch. 519]

Boa Hancock (ボア・ハンコック Boa Hankokku) is a member of the all-female Kuja Tribe from the island of Amazon Lily.[ch. 515f.] Sold to the Celestial Dragons during childhood, she and her sisters are force-fed devil fruits and branded as slaves.[ch. 521] Eventually freed by Fisher Tiger, the three return to their people. Hancock becomes ruler and is referred to by her subjects as "Snake Princess" (蛇姫 Hebihime).[ch. 516, 521] Leading the Kuja Pirates, she quickly gains infamy as the "Pirate Empress" (海賊女帝 Kaizoku Jotei) and is offered membership in the Seven Warlords of the Sea.[ch. 516, 522] Despite resenting the World Government for her past enslavement, which she keeps a secret even from her kinswomen, Hancock accepts the position to protect her people. But when called upon to participate in the Government's war against the Whitebeard Pirates, she initially refuses and only reconsiders after falling in love with Luffy, who enlists her help to infiltrate Impel Down.[ch. 516f., 520–522] Hancock is capable of utilizing all three types of Haki,[ch. 519]
The ability of the Paramecia-type Love-Love Fruit (メロメロの実 Mero Mero no Mi) allows her to turn anyone charmed by her into stone and back again.[ch. 516, 521] She is also often accompanied by her pet snake Salome. After the most recent Levely, the Seven Warlords were disbanded, making her an enemy of the World Government again.
A few weeks after her home was invaded by the Marines and the Blackbeard Pirates, Boa Hancock has decided to leave her home to protect her people and reunite with Luffy.
In the Japanese anime television series, her voice actress is Kotono Mitsuishi.[32] In the Funimation English adaptation, her voice is supplied by Lydia Mackay.

The Monkey Mountain Allied Force (猿山連合軍 Saruyama Rengō-gun) is a group formed between three pirate captains. Originally stationed in Jaya, they helped the Straw Hat Pirates in getting to Skypiea.
They are led by Mont Blanc Cricket (モンブラン・クリケット Monburan Kuriketto) is the leader of the Monkey Mountain Allied Forces who is a descendant of Mont Blanc Noland (モンブラン・ノーランド Monburan Nōrando), who was known as "Liar Noland" because of lying about the existence of a City of Gold. Cricket, believing that Noland was telling the truth, spent years searching for that city. Mont Black Cricket is voiced by Takashi Taniguchi in the original Japanese version and by George Manley in the Funimation dub.
The other two representatives of the alliance are: Masira (マシラ Mashira), the captain of the Masira Pirates with ape-like features who are responsible for refloating the treasures of the sunken ships; and Shoujou (ショウジョウ Shōjō), Masira's orangutan-faced sworn brother and the captain of the Shoujou Pirates who are responsible for sinking ships. Masira is voiced by Aruno Tahara in the original Japanese version and by Jeremy Inman in the Funimation dub. Shoujou is voiced by Isamu Tanonaka in the original Japanese version and by Jonathan C. Osborne.
New Fish-Man Pirates sửa
The New Fish-Man Pirates (新魚人海賊団 Shin-Gyojin Kaizoku-dan) are a pirate group of fish-men supremacists.The pirates eventually make a pact with the captain of the Flying Pirates to plot the complete destruction of Fish-Man Island by initiating a coup d'etat. In addition, they also use different Sea Beasts where some of them are used as their steeds. Jones broadcasts a message to the island, announcing that he will execute Neptune, its current ruler, to take over the kingdom, and then kill the Straw Hat Pirates. However, Luffy eventually teams up with Jimbei, to launch a combined assault on the pirates—defeating them and saving Fish-Man Island.

Hordy Jones (ホーディ・ジョーンズ Hōdi Jōnzu) is the great white shark-type fish-man and leader of the New Fishman Pirates.[ch. 631] Hordy is responsible for assassinating Otohime, the queen of Fishman Island. He uses a Sea Giraffe as his steed.

The Roger Pirates (ロジャー海賊団 Rojā Kaizokudan) were the pirate crew of the late King of the Pirates, Gol D. Roger, and were the only known crew to ever reach Raftel. Silvers Rayleigh was the crew's first mate. One of the members, Scopper Gaban (スコッパー・ギャバン Sukoppā Gyaban), was a man who was regarded by Roger as one of his best men along with Rayleigh. Shanks and Buggy—They started out as pirate apprentices on the crew. Because the legendary Samurai Kozuki Oden of Wano Country can read the Poneglyphs, he, alongside his wife Toki, children Momonosuke and Hiyori, as well as his retainers, Dogstorm and Cat Viper, accompanied Roger and his crew for one year to learn the secrets of the world (such as the void century, ancient weapons, and the D. family), as well as reaching the last island, Raftel.

Gol D. RogerRoger ( ゴール・D・ロジャー, Gōru Dī Rojā), after gaining worldwide infamy as captain of the Roger Pirates, becomes better known as Gold Roger (ゴールド・ロジャー Gōrudo Rojā), the King of the Pirates (海賊王 Kaizoku-Ō, lit. "Pirate King").[ch. 1, 154, 506] Suffering from a terminal disease, he takes his crew on a complete voyage through the Grand Line before disbanding it and turning himself in to the World Government, which claims to have captured him.[ch. 506] At his execution, before Rouge gives birth to Roger's son Ace, and 22 years before the formation of the Straw Hat Pirates, Roger spawns the "Great Pirate Era" by announcing that his treasure, the "One Piece", is up for the taking, though they will have to find it first.[ch. 1, 506, 550] It is said after Roger's death that only Whitebeard could match him in a fight and that he had the ability to hear "the voice of all things", which allowed him and his crew to learn the secret history of the world.[ch. 233, 507] He was also the original owner of Luffy's Straw Hat which fell into the possession of Shanks after his captain's death, with Shanks eventually passing it on to Luffy. Gol D. Roger has the highest known bounty in the series, with 
5,564,800,000.[33] Roger was capable of utilizing all three types of Haki.[ch. 966] and was capable of using the advanced application for both and Haoshoku and Busoshoku Haki.
Roger is originally voiced by Chikao Ōtsuka, and later by Masane Tsukayama.[1] A younger Roger is voiced by Takeshi Kusao. In the 4Kids adaptation, Roger is voiced by Frederick B. Owens.[2] Eric Stuart initially voiced Roger before being replaced with Owens. In the Funimation English adaptation, his voice is supplied by Sean Hennigan.[3]

The "Dark King" (冥王 Mei-Ō) Silvers Rayleigh (シルバーズ・レイリー Shirubāzu Reirī) is a swordsman who, after serving as first mate of the Roger Pirates, comes to live on the Sabaody Archipelago as a ship coater and gambler.[ch. 500] Rayleigh is capable of utilizing all three types of Haki. and is capable of using the advanced application for both and Haoshoku and Busoshoku Haki. and, following the war between the Whitebeard Pirates and the World Government, instructs Luffy in its use.[ch. 503]
In the anime adaptation, he is voiced by Keiichi Sonobe in Japanese,[34] and by Bruce Carey in the Funimation dub.[3]
Rocks Pirates sửa
The Rocks Pirates (ロックス海賊団 Rokkusu Kaizokudan), led by Rocks D. Xebec (ロックス・D・ジーベック Rokkusu Dī Jībekku), were a powerful crew that dominated the seas forty years before the current events of the series; their strength was such that at the time anyone knew their deeds, so crazy and reckless that they considered them a real terrorist organization. There were also people who later became notorious such as the Emperors Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Kaido, and the captain of the Golden Lion Pirates and Roger's rival Shiki (シキ Shiki).[ch. 957] They were defeated on the island of God Valley (ゴッドバレー Goddo Barē) by the combined efforts of Monkey D. Garp and Gol D. Roger.

The Straw Hat Grand Fleet (麦わら大船団 Mugiwara Dai-sendan) is a fleet composed of seven pirate crews, whom after having helped Luffy in Dressrosa, swore allegiance to him. A total of 5,639 pirates make up the entire fleet.
Beautiful Pirates sửa
The Beautiful Pirates (美しき海賊団 Utsukushiki Kaizoku-dan) are the first crew of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Their ship is the Sleeping White Horse of the Forest. The crew consists of a total of 74 members including:
- Cavendish (キャベンディッシュ Kyabendisshu) is the captain of the crew, a former prince who became a pirate, becoming a super rookie, and has a double personality where he becomes his dangerous alter-ego Hakuba. Cavendish is voiced by Akira Ishida in the original Japanese version and by Matt Shipman in the Funimation dub.
- Suleiman (スレイマン Sureiman) is a former mercenary who joined Cavendish after the events in Dressrosa. Suleiman is voiced by Ken Narita in the original Japanese version and by Jordan Cruz in the Funimation dub.
- Farul (ファルル Faruru) is a Cavendish' white horse who serves as Cavendish' mode of transportation.

The Barto Club (バルトクラブ Baruto Kurabu) are the second crew of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. All the members of the crew are big fans of Luffy and named their ship "Going Luffy-senpai" after him.
The crew consists of a total of 56 members including:
- Bartolomeo (バルトロメオ) is a former super rookie and captain of the crew, who has the power to create invisible barriers around him thanks to the Barrier-Barrier Fruit. Bartolomeo is voiced by Showtaro Morikubo in the original Japanese version and by Tyson Rinehart in the Funimation dub.
- Gambia (ガンビア Ganbia) is the Barto Club's staff officer with jaguar spot tattoos on his arms. Gambia is voiced by Hiroshi Yanaka in the original Japanese version and by Blake McNamara in the Funimation dub.

The Happosui Army (八宝水軍 Happō Suigun) are the third crew of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. They have one Happosai boat that has a white tiger figurehead and seven Ipposai boats that resemble turtle ships with sea serpent figureheads.

- Sai (サイ) is the leader of the Happosui Army who married Baby 5 when she defected from the Donquixote Pirates and sided with the Happosui Army. Said is voiced by Kōichi Hashimoto in the original Japanese version and by Kyle Igneczi in the Funimation dub.
- Boo (ブー Bū) is Sai's younger brother and vice-leader of the organization. Boo is voiced by Masaya Takatsuka in the original Japanese version and by Jeff Johnson in the Funimation dub.
- Chin Jao (チンジャオ Chinjao) is the grandfather of Sai and former leader of the Happosui Army, who was once a rival to both Garp and Roger. He also is capable of utilizing all three types of Haki. Chin Jao is voiced by Shin Aomori in the original Japanese version and by Bradley Campbell in the Funimation dub.

The Ideo Pirates (イデオ海賊団 Ideo Kaizokudan) are the fourth crew of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Initially, they were named "XXX Gym Martial Arts Alliance" (XXXジム格闘連合 Toripuru-Ekkusu Jimu Kakutō Rengō, pronounced "Triple X Gym Martial Arts Alliance") before being renamed after obtaining their own ship.
The four members of the crew are:
- Ideo (イデオ) is a martial artist, leader of the Ideo Pirates, and member of the Longarm Tribe with bandaged feet and calves. Ideo is voiced by Masaki Aizawa in the original Japanese version and by Eric Rolon in the Funimation dub.
- Blue Gilly (ブルー・ギリー Burū Girī) is a martial artist and member of the Longleg Tribe. Blue Gilly is voiced by Makoto Naruse in the original Japanese version and by Kellen Goff in the Funimation dub.
- Abdullah (アブドーラ Abudōra) and Jeet (ジェット Jetto) are two former criminals and bounty hunters. Abdulla is voiced by Keiji Hirai in the original Japanese version and by Sean O'Connor in the Funimation dub. Jeet is voiced by Koji Haramaki in the original Japanese version and by Robby Gemaehlich in the Funimation dub.

The Tontatta Pirates (トンタッタ海賊団 Tontatta Kaizokudan), formerly known as Tonta Corps (トンタ兵団 Tonta Heidan), are the fifth crew of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet, and the armed forces of the Tontatta Tribe. The organization is made up entirely of dwarfs and their ship is named Usoland.
The crew consists of a total of 200 members including:
- Leo (レオ Reo) is the leader of the Tontanna Pirates whose Devil Fruit called the Stitch-Stitch Fruit gives him the ability to stitch and un-stitch objects together. Leo is voiced by Kurumi Mamiya in the original Japanese version and by Rachel Glass in the Funimation dub.
- Bian (ビアン) is an Avian Squad leader of the Pink Bee Squad whose Devil Fruit called the Bug-Bug Fruit: Model Hornet gives her the ability to transform into a hornet or a hornet-dwarf hybrid while also granting her flight. Bian is voiced by Rie Kugimiya in the original Japanese version and by Kristen McGuire.
- Cub (カブ Kabu) is an Avian Squad leader of the Yellow Kabu Squad whose Devil Fruit called the Bug-Bug Fruit: Model Rhinoceros Beetle, gives him the ability to transform into a rhinoceros beetle or a rhinoceros beetle-dwarf hybrid while also granting him flight. Cub is voiced by Masami Kikuchi in the original Japanese version. In the Funimation dub, Cub is voiced by Clay Wheeler in the "Episode of Sabo" special and by Shawn Gann in later episodes.
New Giant Pirates sửa
The New Giant Pirates (新巨兵海賊団 Shin Kyo Hei Kaizoku-dan) are the sixth crew of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. Their ship is called Nagifar.
The organization is composed of five giants from the island of Elbaf:
- Hajrudin (ハイルディン Hairudin) is the crew's captain. Hajrudin is voiced by Tsuyoshi Koyama in the original Japanese version. In the Funimation dub, Hajrudin is voice by Randy E. Aguebor in the "Episode of Sabo" special and episodes 639 to 658 and by Chris Guerrero in later episodes.
- Stansen (スタンセン Sutansen) is the crew's shipwright who was imprisoned at the Auction House in Sabaody until he escaped with Rayleigh. Stansen is voiced by Eiji Takemoto in the original Japanese version and by Dan Caskey in the Funimation dub.
- Rodo (ロード Rōdo) is the crew's navigator.
- Goldberg (ゴールドバーグ Gōrudobāgu) is the crew's cook.
- Gerd (ゲルズ Geruzu) is the crew's doctor who in her childhood was a friend of Big Mom until their friendship was strained when Big Mom's eating disorder for semin led to her rampage throughout Elbaf which injured many giants. Gerd is voiced by Natsuko Kuwatani in the original Japanese version and by Sarah Wiedenheft in the Funimation dub.

The Yontamaria Fleet (ヨンタマリア大船団 Yonta Maria Dai-sendan) are the seventh crew of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet. They have one Yonta Maria, five Santa Maria ships, and fifty Nita Maria ships.
The crew consists of a total of 4,300 members including:
- Orlumbus (オオロンブス Ōronbusu) is a former adventurer who worked for the Standing Kingdom. Orlumbus is voiced by Jiro Saito in the original Japanese version and by Brandon Potter in the Funimation dub.
- Columbus (コロンブス Koronbusu) is a girl who is a trusted subordinate of Orlumbus.
Rolling Pirates sửa
A pirate crew that the Straw Hat Pirates met in Thriller Bark, being part of the victims whose shadows were stolen by Gecko Moria.
They are captained by Charlotte Lola (シャーロット•ローラ Shārotto Rōra), one of 39 daughters of Big Mom and twin sister of Chiffon. Lola ran away from Totto Land when her mother wanted her to marry Prince Loki of Elbaf, deciding to sail in the sea to find someone she truly loved. During her trip, she asked all the men she met if they wanted to marry her, eventually marrying Gotti.
Charlotte Lola is voiced by Aya Hisakawa in the original Japanese version and by Alex Moore in the Funimation dub.
Sun Pirates sửa
The Sun Pirates (タイヨウの海賊団 Taiyō no Kaizokudan) are a band of pirates consisting of fish-men and mermen that was originally led by Fisher Tiger and later by Jimbei They attack any pirate ship they see, but no matter who is on it, they never kill directly. Their Sun insignia was created to cover up the mark of the Celestial Dragon's slave, "Hoof of the Soaring Dragon", since Tiger Fisher bore the mark from being a slave. But he had escaped the World Nobles and during his escape he freed other mermen/fish-men and Boa Hancock and her two sisters. With the Sun insignia, the World Government was unable to claim the slaves due to mass confusion over whether they were Sun Pirates or not.[ch. 620] The members of the Arlong Pirates and Macro Pirates were also part of the crew, until the group eventually disbands when Jimbei joins the Seven Warlords of the Sea.
The known members of the Sun Pirates are:
- Fisher Tiger (フィッシャー・タイガー Fisshā Taigā) is a sea bream-type fish-man who was the crew's founder. After he died from blood loss following an ambush by the Marines, he was succeeded by Jimbei. Fisher Tiger is voiced by Kōji Ishii in the original Japanese version and by Gabe Kunda in the Funimation dub.
- Aladine (アラディン Aradin) is a goatsbeard brotula-type merman who is the crew's doctor and first mate during Jimbei's leadership. Aladine is voiced by Takashi Nagasako in the original Japanese version and by Brad Smeaton in the Funimation dub.
- Charlotte Praline (シャーロット・プラリネ Shārotto Purarine) is Aladine's wife and Big Mom's 21st daughter who is a hybrid of a human and a hammerhead shark-type merman. Charlotte Praline is voiced by Yuko Tachibana in the original Japanese version and by Sara Ragsdale in the Funimation dub.
- Wadatsumi (ワダツミ) is a giant tiger blowfish-type fish-man who is a former member of the Flying Pirates. Wadatsumi is voiced by Kōki Miyata in the original Japanese version and by Trina Nishimura in the Funimation dub.
Thriller Bark Pirates sửa
The crew of the island-sized ship Thriller Bark (スリラーバーク Surirā Bāku), captained by Gecko Moriah, consists mostly of zombies, numbering in the hundreds, created from corpses. Some of these zombies have been sorted between the General Zombies, the Soldier Zombies, the Wild Zombies, and the Special Zombies.

Gecko Moria (ゲッコー・モリア Gekkō Moria, a play on kōmori (蝙蝠 kōmori)) is the captain of the island-sized ship Thriller Bark and a former member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea.[ch. 448] The Shadow-Shadow Fruit (カゲカゲの実 Kage Kage no Mi) grants him the ability to control his shadow, allowing it to act completely independent from his body, and to control others' shadows.[ch. 455, 463] After his entire crew is annihilated by Kaido, he creates a completely obedient, immortal army of zombies by implanting stolen shadows into corpses.[ch. 457, 481] After the Paramount War, his Warlord title is revoked.
In the Japanese anime television series, Gecko voice actor is Katsuhisa Hōki.[35] In the Funimation dub, he is voiced by Chris Guerrero.[36]

Perona (ペローナ Perōna), also known as "Ghost Princess" (ゴーストプリンセス Gōsuto Purinsesu), is a member of the Thriller Bark Pirates, a woman dressed in a Gothic Lolita-style who is capable of create ghosts with various abilities thanks to the power of the Paramecia-type Hollow-Hollow Fruit (ホロホロの実 Horo Horo no Mi).[ch. 443, 461] After Gecko Moria's defeat, Perona takes shelter in Dracule Mihawk's castle, where she begrudgingly helps and cooperates with Roronoa Zoro in his training during the timeskip.[ch. 597]
In the original Japanese anime series, Perona is voiced by Kumiko Nishihara. In the Funimation English adaptation, her voice actress is Felecia Angelle.
Hogback sửa
Hogback (ホグバック Hogubakku) is the medical genius of Moriah who was given unlife in the form of shadows stolen using Moriah's Devil Fruit ability. He was the one who patched up the corpses.[ch. 446, 449, 455]
Hogback is voiced by Hiroshi Iwasaki in the original Japanese version and by Marcus D. Stimac in the Funimation dub.

"Graveyard" Absalom (アブサロム Abusaromu) is a patchwork man augmented by Hogback with the snout of a lion, the skin of an elephant, and the muscles of a bear and a gorilla. He can turn himself and anything he touches invisible thabnks to the Clear-Clear Fruit. Absalom was later killed by Shiryu of the Blackbeard Pirates who stole his Devil Fruit power.
Absalom is voiced by Hiroaki Miura in the original Japanese version and by Andrew Chandler in the Funimation dub.

Among the zombies created and/or reanimated by Hogback and Moriah are:
- Victoria Cindry (ビクトリア・シンドリー Bikutoria Shindorī) is a former famous stage actress-turned-Soldier Zombie who has a strong hatred for plates and whom Dr. Hogback was in love with. Victoria Cindry is voiced by Naomi Shindō while alive and Houko Kuwashima as a zombie in the original Japanese version. In the Funimation dub, she is voiced by Jamie Marchi.
- Shimotsuki Ryuma (霜月リューマ Shimotsuki Ryūma) is a samurai from Wano Country's "Country of Gold" era whose body was later stolen from his grave and made into one of Gecko Moriah's General Zombies. He once had the shadow of Brook. Shimotsuki Ryuma is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya when alive and Chō as a zombie in the original Japanese version. In the Funimation dub, he is voiced by Ian Sinclair.
- Lola (ローラ Rōra) is a warthog-like General Zombie in love with Absalom who had the shadow of Charlotte Lola. Lola is voiced by Aya Hisakawa in the original Japanese version and by Alex Moore in the Funimation dub.
- Taralan (タララン Tararan) is a large monkey/spider Wild Zombie who is the commander of the Spider Mice. Taralan is voiced by Kazunari Tanaka in the original Japanese version. In the Funimation dub, he is voiced by Todd Upchurch from Episode 346 to Episode 406 and by Jim Foronda in later episodes.
- Kumacy (クマシー Kumash) is a patchwork teddy bear-like Wild Zombie and servant of Perona who is the commander-in-chief of the Wild Zombies Kumacy is voiced by Hiroshi Iwasaki in the original Japanese version and by Ray Hurd in the Funimation dub.
- Inuppe (犬ッペ Inuppe) is a Wild Zombie that resembles a penguin with the snout and ears of a bulldog who guards Hogback. He once had the shadow of Sanji. Inuppe is voiced by Hiroaki Hirata in the original Japanese version and by Eric Vale in the Funimation dub.
- Jigoro (ジゴロウ Jigoro) is a General Zombie swordsman. He once had Zoro's shadow. Jigoro is voiced by Kazuya Nakai in the original Japanese version and by Christopher Sabat in the Funimation dub.
- Oars (オーズ Ōzu): A 219 ft. ancient giant formerly feared by all who was reanimated as a Special Zombie by Moria. He once had the shadow of Luffy. Oars is voiced by Mayumi Tanaka in the original Japanese version and by Colleen Clinkenbeard in the Funimation dub.

Originally known as the "Eleven Supernovas" (11人の超新星 Jūichinin no Chōshinsei), it is a group of rookie pirates whose bounties exceed over 100,000,000 berries, having reached the Sabaody Archipelago simultaneously. The group's members are: Monkey D. Luffy and his crewmate Roronoa Zoro; Trafalgar Law; Capone Bege; X. Drake; Jewelry Bonney; Basil Hawkins; Eustass Kid and his crewmate Killer; Scratchmen Apoo; and Urouge (ウルージ Urūji).[ch. 498] Regarded as "problem children", these pirates, along with Blackbeard, eventually became known as the "Worst Generation" (最悪の世代 Saiaku no Sedai) by the World Government as they gained more notoriety for their crimes and, sometimes, their willingness to challenge the status quo.[ch. 664]

Basil Hawkins (バジル・ホーキンス Bajiru Hōkinsu), nicknamed "Magician" (魔術師 Majutsushi), is the captain of the Hawkins Pirates. He ate the Straw-Straw Fruit (ワラワラの実 Wara Wara no Mi), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to create and manipulate straw. He can cover himself in straw and make scarecrow-like straw avatars to aid his offense. He also has a habit of reading tarot cards to find out what is going to happen and the percentage probability that what he predicts will happen.
After the two year timeskip, he tried to form an alliance with Scratchmen Apoo and Eustass Kid. After Kaido appeared in front of them, he ended up joining the Animal Kingdom Pirates as Kaido's subordinate, betraying Kid along with Apoo, and becoming one of the crew's Shinuchi.
Capone Bege sửa
Capone "Gang" Bege (カポネ・“ギャング”・ベッジ Kapone "Gyangu" Bejji) is a mafia don-turned-pirate. He has the power of the Castle-Castle Fruit (シロシロの実 Shiro Shiro no Mi), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to create and maintain a dimensional fortress inside his body, being able to put people inside after being reduced when approaching the entrances of his body, or transforming into a great castle that serves as a fortress.
During the two year time skip, Bege became one of the Big Mom Pirates' combatants, until the moment when he formed an alliance with Luffy and Caesar Clown to finish off Big Mom. Bege is married to Big Mom's 22nd daughter Charlotte Chiffon (シャーロット・シフォンShārotto Shifon), and they are both the parents of Capone Pez (カポネ・ペッツ Kapone Pettsu).
Capone Bege is voiced by Naoki Tatsuta in the original Japanese version and by Kyle Hebert in the Funimation dub.
Fire Tank Pirates sửa
The Fire Tank Pirates (ファイアタンク海賊団 Faia Tanku Kaizokudan) are Capone Bege's pirate crew. It consists of:
- Vito (ヴィト Vito) is Beg's advisor. Vito is voiced by Daisuke Kishio in the original Japanese version and by Chris Hackney in the Funimation dub.
- Gotti (ゴッティ Gotti) is Gotti's combatant who is married to Charlotte Lola of the Rolling Pirates. Gotti is voiced by Masafumi Kimura in the original Japanese version and by Joshua Passmore in the Funimation dub.
Eustass Kid sửa
Eustass "Captain" Kid (ユースタス・キャプテン・キッド Yūsutasu "Kyaputen" Kiddo) is the captain of the Kid Pirates. Among his crew is his childhood friend Killer. Kid ate the Magnet-Magnet Fruit (ジキジキの実 Jiki Jiki no Mi), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to attract and control metal objects with magnetism. He is also capable of utilizing all three types of Haki. During the time skip, he lost his arm after an encounter with. Shanks, depending on a metal pieces arm created by his ability. After trying to form an alliance with Scratchmen Apoo and Basil Hawkins, he ended up being betrayed by them and captured by Kaido, having to later ally himself with Luffy and Law in their plan to defeat him. After Chapter 1079, his status is currently unknown.
Eustass Kid is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in the original Japanese version and by Justin Cook in the Funimation dub.

Killer (キラー Kirā), nicknamed "Murder Machine" (殺戮武人 Satsuriku Bujin, lit. "Massacre Soldier") is the combatant of the Kid Pirates and Eustass Kid's childhood friend. He usually fights using two blades, and stands out for wearing a mask on his face.
After he and Kid were captured by Kaido, Killer was forced to eat a dud SMILE fruit causing him to not stop smiling. In Wano, he ended up working for Kaido's ally Kurozumi Orochi as a street assassin known as Kamazo the Manslayer (人斬り鎌ぞう Hito Kiri Kamazō). To get revenge on Kaido, he and the Kid Pirates ended up joining Luffy and Law's alliance.
Killer is voiced by Kenji Hamada in the original Japanese version and by Leo Fabian in the Funimation dub.
Jewelry Bonney sửa
Jewelry Bonney (ジュエリー・ボニー Juerī Bonī) is one of twelve pirates collectively known as the Worst Generation and the only female of the group. She is nicknamed "Glutton" (大喰らい Ō-Gurai, n.đ. "Big Eater") because of her gigantic appetite which, however, does not affect her sinuous figure.[ch. 498] She has eaten the Age-Age Fruit that allows her to change her own age (which she uses to disguise herself) as well as others, making her opponents either too young or too old to fight her.[ch. 499]
After the Paramount War, she and her crew were defeated and captured by the Blackbeard Pirates, and she was subsequently arrested by the Navy fleet led by Sakazuki. Somehow, she managed to escape, showing herself wandering the streets incognito after the two year timeskip. During the World Meeting, she infiltrated Marijoa to rescue Bartholomew Kuma, who is later revealed to be her father.
Jewelry Bonney is voiced by Reiko Kiuchi and later by Reiko Takagi in the original Japanese version. In the Funimation dub, she is voiced by Laura Wetsel.
Scratchmen Apoo sửa
Scratchmen Apoo (スクラッチメン・アプー Sukuratchimen Apū), also known as "Roar of the Sea" (海鳴り Umi Nari), is the captain of the On-Air Pirates (オンエア海賊団 On Ea Kaizokudan), and a member of the longarm tribe. He has the power of the Tone-Tone Fruit (オトオトの実 Oto Oto no Mi), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that gives him the ability to transform the parts of his body into various instruments and generate music and great vibrations with them, however, sound does not affect people if they do not hear it.
After the two year timeskip, he tried to form an alliance with Basil Hawkins and Eustass Kid. However, he was affiliated with Kaido to ambush them, Apoo being actually a subordinate of the Animal Kingdom Pirates as their informant, ending up with Hawkins joining Kaido and Apoo, and Kid being captured.
Scratchmen Apoo is voiced by Mitsuaki Madono in the original Japanese version. In the Funimation dub, he is voiced by Brad Venable in episodes 392-629 and One Piece: Stampede and by Brent Mukai starting in Episode 736.
Trafalgar Law sửa
The "Surgeon of Death" (死の外科医 Shi no Gekai), Trafalgar D. Water Law (トラファルガー・D・ワーテル・ロー Torafarugā Dī Wāteru Rō), originates from the North Blue.[ch. 498, 508, 578, 763] Having eaten the Paramecia-type Op-Op Fruit (オペオペの実 Ope Ope no Mi), Law can, after generating a blue spherical area around himself, cut and teleport objects as well as perform body swaps within said blue area.[ch. 661] He is the captain of the Heart Pirates. Originally from the White Town, Flevance, he escaped with White Lead Disease and became a member of the Donquixote Pirates. There he met Corazon, the brother of Doflamingo, and together they went on an adventure to find a cure for Law. Ultimately they found the Devil Fruit, but before they escaped, Corazon was killed by Doflamingo, leaving Law to seek out revenge. Law makes a name for himself and following the Paramount War, Law joins the Seven Warlords of the Sea.[ch. 659, 673] Though he enters into an alliance with Luffy and the Straw Hats to take down Kaido, one of the Four Emperors, Law is actually hunting down Donquixote Doflamingo.
Trafalgar Law is voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya in the original Japanese version[34] and by Matthew Mercer in the Funimation dub.

The Heart Pirates (ハートの海賊団 Hāto no Kaizokudan), consisting of twenty-one members, is the pirate crew led by Trafalgar Law.
- Bepo (ベポ Bepo) is the polar bear-type mink and crew navigator. Bepo is voiced by Yasuhiro Takato in the original Japanese version and by Cris George in the Funimation dub.
- Shachi (シャチ Shachi) is an average-size lean man. Shachi is voiced by Takahiro Fujimoto in the original Japanese version and by Ben Bryant in the Funimation dub.
- Penguin (ペンギン Pengin) is an average-size lean man who wears a hat with his name on it. Penguin is voiced by Keiji Hirai in the original Japanese version and by Seth Magill in the Funimation dub.
- Jean Bart (ジャンバール Janbāru) is a large man who was a former slave of Saint Rosward. Jean Bart is voiced by Yasunori Masutani in the original Japanese version and by John McCalmont in the Funimation dub.

"Red Flag" (赤旗 Akahata) X. Drake (・ドレーク Diesu Dorēku, pronounced as "Diez Drake") is the captain of the Drake Pirates. He has the power of the Dragon-Dragon Fruit, Model: Allosaurus (リュウリュウの実 モデル アロサウルス Ryū Ryū no Mi Moderu Arosaurusu), a Zoan-type Devil Fruit that gives him the ability to transform into an Allosaurus or an Allosaurus-human hybrid. He is a former Navy rear admiral who became a pirate, but secretly continued to work for the Navy as captain of the "SWORD" division. Under this identity, Drake managed to join the Animal Kingdom Pirates as Kaido's subordinate, becoming one of their Shinuchi as part of the Tobi Roppo. Drake is ousted once his treachery is uncovered and he joins Luffy's alliance to take down Kaido.
X. Drake is voiced by Eiji Takemoto in the original Japanese version and by D. C. Douglas in the Funimation dub.
