Now it translates English to Vietnamese!

I removed the redirect (which was pointless, since anyone using this template would use the English variable names, which aren't supported by Tóm tắt về quốc gia).

Instead this template will now convert an English country's infobox to a Vietnamese one. It won't change full-stops (periods) to commas, "French" to "Tiếng Pháp" or anything like that, but it will quickly make a Vietnamese country box that you can fix up manually.

How to use it...

First go to an English country's article and cut and paste the infobox into a new Vietnamese article. Then add "subst:" before the word Infobox. Then save your new article, and go back and edit it. :-)

Or if some evil lazy English speaking person just cuts and pastes an English country article into a Vietnamese page, it will actually display (the box at least) in Vietnamese. Someone who later notices it, should add the "subst:" part for future Vietnamese-speaking editors to be able to understand it.

Please don't delete this template. But if you see an article using it, add the word "subst:", save, and then fix the little things (like language name, punctuation) that need to be converted to Vietnamese. CarlKenner 16:27, ngày 21 tháng 4 năm 2006 (UTC)

Reverted changes

Carl, I've got a few quibbles with your reversion:

1. There are no technical issues with leaving spaces in. As you can see in the code at Hoa Kỳ and Việt Nam, spaces have no adverse effect on the article. As it turns out, the parser strips all leading and trailing spaces in template parameters. (Note that this is not the case with the ParserFunction syntax.)
2. The <big> tag is not needed for the "Tên chính" parameter, since the template's CSS already takes care of font size. At the Vietnamese Wikipedia, italics aren't used for that parameter's values either: since we don't include the official name's Vietnamese translation in the parameter call, it's not necessary to mark the official name as being in a foreign language by italicizing it.
3. In the article body, quotes should not be used around the foreign-language official names; only transliterations get quotation marks.
4. en:Infobox Country does not exist.
5. I have no idea why you removed the Thể loại:Bảng tóm tắt category tag, which is wrapped in <noinclude>, other than that you simply reverted all my changes without actually looking to see what I did.

If you prefer, I'll try to separate my changes into separate edits, but that may lead us to more edit conflicts with each other.

Also, when you go to "fix up" new articles, please remove the <font> tag around the value for "Cấp HDI" ("HDI_category"). The Vietnamese version of the infobox template uses {{qif}} (soon to be replaced with the #if function) to determine colors automagically. :^) – Nguyễn Xuân Minh (thảo luận, đóng góp) 04:15, ngày 25 tháng 4 năm 2006 (UTC)
